- Hearing Evaluation/Audiometry
Hearing Evaluation/Audiometry: Assessment of hearing in children and adults to determine the degree and type of hearing loss.
- Tympanogram
A graphic display of eardrum (tympanic membrane) compliance as a function of pressure changes in the external ear canal used to asses middle ear integrity. This test helps us determine the type of hearing loss.
- Acoustic Reflex Measurement
This is a measurement of the acoustic reflex, which occurs when a small muscle in the middle ear (stapedius muscle) contracts as a result of a loud sound. This test helps us assess the neurological function of the auditory system.
- Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE)
Assessment of cochlear function by introducing a brief signal into the ear canal and measuring the acoustic energy that is emitted. We often use this test for infant hearing screenings.
- Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR)
Assessment of eighth cranial nerve and brainstem response to auditory stimulation. This test has several diagnostic uses for evaluating neurological integrity of the auditory brainstem pathways.
- Electrocochleography (ECochG)
Recording of the electrical potentials of the auditory nerve for the diagnosis, assessment, and/or monitoring of Meniere’s disease.
- Electronystagmography (ENG)
Assessment of balance disturbance in the form of dizziness, vertigo, or disequilibrium. This test utilizes a technique that objectively records eye movements by measuring the corneoretinal potential
- Hearing Aid Evaluations and Fittings
- Central Auditory Processing (CAP)
Assessment of the auditory processing ability in children and adults. This type of hearing evaluation is designed to identify individuals who have trouble understanding speech in the presence of normal hearing. For further information please contact: APDtesting@hotmail.com
